Context
Download Rdp Client For Mac
- Windows 8.1
- Remote Desktop Connection for Mac
- Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac
- Provide remote assistance to Windows, Mac and Linux users, or access your Windows (XP and above) and Mac (OS X 10.6 and above) desktops at any time, all from the Chrome browser on virtually any device, including Chromebooks.
- Apple Remote Desktop is the best way to manage the Mac computers on your network. Distribute software, provide real-time online help to end users, create detailed software and hardware reports, and automate routine management tasks—all without leaving your desk.
- Using the same credentials, it works from my Windows PC (using Remote Desktop for Windows), but trying to do it from my Mac I get the error: Remote Desktop Connection cannot verify the identity of the computer that you want to connect to.
- I administer a number of Windows machines, and am trying to find a really good application to remote desktop in to them from my Mac. I've tried CoRD, and I really like its library approach to saved.
Symptoms
When you try to establish a remote desktop session with a Windows 8.1 machine from Mac OS X using Microsoft Remote Desktop or Remote Desktop Connection for Mac, the connection fails with the following error message:
Remote Desktop Connection cannot verify the identity of the computer that you want to connect to.
Solution
- First make sure you have the most current version of the Microsoft RDP application from the Apple App Store and try again.
If that doesn't solve the problem enable RDP security layer in Group Policy on the machine:
Windows Remote Desktop Client Windows 10
- Verify that the firewall allows remote desktop connections with RDP (Port 3389)
- Click Start > Run.
- Type gpedit.msc and click OK.
Result: The Group Policy Editor will open. - In the left hand side bar, expand Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host.
- Select Security.
- Change 'Require use of specific security layer for remote desktop (RDP) connection' to Enabled and select RDP in the Options pane.
- Change 'Require user authentication for remote connections by using Network Level Authentication' to Disabled.
- Close Group Policy Editor and reboot the machine for changes to take effect.
